In my current body of work in development, Sacred Darkness explores the cycles of metamorphosis we experience when we go through periods of darkness. Like seeds buried in the earth, it is in these moments of stillness and depth that the soul’s ancient potential is planted, stirred by its quiet yearning for growth and renewal.

Part of a triptych, Nocturne portrays the seed of a tree-like nymph in the earliest phase of germination, as it awakens from dormancy to initiate its transformation. Surrounded by night-blooming flowers that unfurl in the moon's cool glow, the nymph radiates a soft, inner light, a pulse of energy that flows through her limbs, symbolizing new life and hinting at an unseen energetic reality. The use of nocturnal flora highlights the quiet strength and beauty found in stillness, while the darkness itself serves as a reminder that creation often begins when we confront and embrace our own shadows, and sometimes in our darkest moments it is when we are planted.

Reverie captures the wood nymph mid-transformation, her form both grounded and reaching. Roots extend deep into the earth while her limbs stretch skyward in a meditative flow. Green, glowing lines trace the wood grain of her emerging body, illuminating the magic of growth from within. With her back turned to the viewer, she signifies the private, internal journey essential for transformation, a process unfolding in quiet strength as she prepares for her final form.

Crescendo reveals the nymph in her full glory, her transformation complete. Standing tall in the first light of dawn, her leaves unfurl and bask proudly in the warmth of a new beginning. The glowing energy from within now harmonizes with the light of day, a symbol of balance and fulfillment. This final form represents the culmination of growth, a vibrant embodiment of renewal and emergence from darkness into light.
