Some of my work in sculpture stems from a desire to explore the sonic, quantum nature of reality and how it becomes translated into the physical experience we perceive through all of our senses. I am inspired by the study of cymatics; whereby frequency is described in visual terms that reveal relationships inherent in energy and sound.
The pattern found at the center of a sunflower, for example, can be replicated with sand, water, or any other particle vibrating at a specific frequency; in essence the sunflower is showing you what sound it is made of. I seek to expand on this concept by exploring emotions while creating my sculptural works and see how the end result correlates with known living things and their possible root tone.
